2. Arrangement for Logistic Function |
The Port of Shimizu will make an intensive arrangement of various functions in order to promote more efficient loading activities and space utilization.

| 3. Upgrade Port-Road Systems |
The Port of Shimizu will develop port roads in the Shin-Okitsu area, in order to ensure smooth traffic at the port.
In the future, the Port of Shimizu will strengthen the overall port traffic system by building new routes connected directly from arterial high-standard highways to the terminals, and also building new route to improve the Sasebo-area peninsularity, along with the growing number of container cargos in the Shin-Okitsu International container terminals. |

| 4.Develops Traffic Systems for Local Revitalization |
‘ Hinode-Area
Hinode Wharf will continue operating passenger vessels as well as handling domestic cargos. This wharf will improve hospitality for passengers by removing decrepit warehouses at the quay.

‘ Ejiri-Area
This area will develop a gathering place and a water access site for people, by using the characteristics of its location, close to JR Shimizu station. Moreover, it will upgrade sea-bus stops, in order to develop more fulfilling access to Hinode-Area by ocean transportations.

| 5. Strengthen Anti-earthquake Procedures to secure ease and safety for people |
Port of Shimizu will put back-land in place and upgrade earthquake resistance at the quay, in order to prepare for the Tokai Earthquake.
Blue letters represent current earthquake resistant quays for critical materials (relief supplies?), and boxed blue letters represent the on-going plan.
Red letters represent current earthquake resistant quays for logistic functions, and boxed red letters represent the on-going plan.

| 6. Make an Attractive Port Space |
‘Currently, Port of Shizumi has only one natural beach at the MIho area. Some new green lands and seashores will be built up.
An 800-m seashore will be developed in the Shin-Okitsu area, and some water green lands will be placed at the back of the seashore.
‘As a pleasure-boat garage, a new public marina will be developed in the Orido area.
‘Port of Shimizu will reduce/relocate small crafts in the harbor, in order to ensure the safe and smooth routes at the port.
This plan is to make new storage facilities in the Shin-Okitsu area.
